Shah and Franklin rigorously assess a variety of factors such as a company's lending position, operational gearing and pricing power. The most crucial assessment surrounds the bond's covenants as this gives the team certainty that the fund's lending position will be maintained. The team believes these factors are often overlooked and undervalued by the market and therefore place the greatest resource into this stage. At least 80% of the fund is in agency rated bonds, with the rest in more low-profile bonds that offer a higher return potential.
