The fund is co-managed by Michael Matthews and Tom Hemmant. It provides a low-risk option to the corporate bond market. The fund is split into three investment themes, which are defensives, liquidity, and credit risk. The defensive theme is the core of the portfolio and contains investment grade bonds, and covered bonds from senior banks. The liquidity theme is made up of cash, bonds with a maturity of less than one year and government bonds. The credit risk theme is for yield enhancement purposes and contains peripheral government bonds, subordinated banks, subordinated insurers, high yield corporate bonds and hybrids. The fund is well diversified although the team can express conviction in more attractive opportunities when the time arises.
