Meet Neve Skeggs

Neve Skeggs

Throughout school, I always enjoyed English and Psychology and so when I discovered my love for both these subjects would lend itself nicely towards a career in marketing, particularly copywriting and consumer behaviour, I was sold!

I went on to study Marketing at Sheffield Hallam University and got my first marketing job during the first year of my degree, working freelance for a digital marketing agency, writing copy for one of their clients.

Leading up to the end of my degree, I secured myself a job for when I finished, at Trek Bicycle as their Retail Marketing Coordinator (UK & Ireland). During my time at Trek, I was responsible for the coordination and delivery of a comprehensive programme of marketing to their independent and partner retailers across the UK & Ireland as well as their other UK+ markets (Poland, Slovakia and Czech Republic). Helping retailers to level up their marketing efforts and introducing them to everything that could be achieved through utilising digital channels was something I massively enjoyed.

Having gained experience working in-house as part of the B2B arm of a business, I was keen to develop my skills in the direct-to-consumer aspect of marketing. My next role was working in marketing & public relations as a Social Account Executive for a full-service communications agency. This role included working as a Press Officer for one of my clients, as well as providing social media management services. The creative aspect of this role was incredibly rewarding, being able to take the clients brief and see a campaign right through from conception to implementation was something I thrived at, a real highlight was achieving 200,000 views for one 7 second piece of content alone! This truly demonstrated the ability that content has to reach people in all corners of the world within minutes, something that has always fascinated me.

This now brings me to today, joining the team at Willis Owen as Content Executive. With more people placing a higher value on their finances and particularly financial freedom, I am excited to be joining the team here at Willis Owen and help more people to own their financial future. This role is the first I’ve had in the financial services industry, and I can’t wait to grow my knowledge, learning from my colleagues who have a wealth of experience. I don’t think there’s anything that quite beats working in-house when it comes to Marketing and so I am really looking forward to getting involved with lots of projects here. I also hope to achieve Chartered Marketer status in the not-too-distant future, which has been a goal of mine since completing my degree.

When I’m not working, I enjoy going to the cinema, walking my dachshund Ralphy and spending time on the in the New Forest, where lots of my family live. I also can’t wait to travel again with my boyfriend - with Cuba, Greece and The Azores at the top of our list!
