Like most of my colleagues here at Willis Owen, I started my working life in retail banking. Working for Lloyds TSB has given me the good grounding which I still have today working within the financial industry. Anyone who has worked within a retail bank will confirm that the training they give you is second to none; you’re taught to deal with every situation in a professional and customer focussed way.
I left Lloyds TSB after 7 years to travel. When I returned, my career took another direction and I joined a housewares company. My role was to look after some of the UK’s largest department stores; Debenhams and House of Fraser to name just a few. My primary responsibility was to ensure that all orders were delivered in full and on schedule. I spent 6 wonderful years there but was then approached about the role in Willis Owen and found myself back in the financial sector again.
I joined Willis Owen in January 2003 - a challenge too good to refuse. As Compliance Manager I ensure that all activities of the business are carried out with the regulatory framework. The role is always varied; always a challenge (a good one!) and I work within a team that makes coming to work always a pleasure.
Outside of work I’m mad about theatre, both local and West End, plays or musicals I love them all. I’m also interested in baking, although I don’t bake as much as I would like as I have trouble just sticking to the one slice! I’m also known to go to the gym once or twice a week - when I’m being good.
